Alice In Wonderland Review
When Tim Burton and Johnny Depp work together they definitely create nothing less than magic. They attempted to accomplish the same goal in the movie, Alice In Wonderland. Before you head to the movies assuming this is a simple remake of the book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, there are two very important things to keep in mind: First, take note that this movie has 19-year-old Alice returning to Wonderland. This time to ultimately end the reign of the Red Queen. Second, this is a children's movie. Do not go into this expecting to have your adult mind changed forever.
Burton's knack for telling a good story is not lost on this tale. Johnny Depp (the Mad Hatter) shines playing yet another crazy role. The big surprise here is Helena Bonham Carter who plays the Red Queen. Yeah she is the villain, but she does a remarkable job at being the person that makes kids boo her.
Visually the movie is average. Tim Burton's dark and dreary feel is definitely felt in this movie. The 3-D effects are not that significant throughout the movie other than Alice falling down the hole. They're visuals fit for an elementary schooler.
If you have children, a family day at the movies is definitely in order. And if you want to see the film because you are expecting to see a cinematic masterpiece, save your money for another movie.
