TIMA Urban Live Showcase

In an often unforgiving urban market and despite being coined the "Screwface Capital", Toronto definitely has love for its upcoming talent and performers trying to get a foot in the industry door. Not everyone can be discovered on Myspace, so many independent artists have to find new ways of getting their name and music out there. One of those avenues providing a platform for independent artist to get their shine on is the Toronto Independent Music Awards (TIMA).

At the TIMA's "Off The Radar" Best Live Urban Showcase event there was strong evidence that city's independent scene is bubbling with talent. From solo rap artists, reggae artists, singers to beatboxers everything was covered. Quite a handful of acts came prepared with a polished stage show, while others may have needed some work, but all in all it's clear that Toronto has a vibrant independent urban scene on the horizon.
